Small Lights/Epic Photos:

Join photographer Jeremy Saffer in a workshop focused on using battery powered small and lightweight lighting for some epic portraiture. With just a few small cases Jeremy will build to a full studio set up with 12+ lights, stands, and mods, everything needed for a wide variety of different lighting set ups and options to light and capture an incredible shoot with tons of versatility.

Be it shooting in studio, traveling locally, or flying across the world, this workshop will use equipment that can easily pack up and go with you anywhere you want or need to shoot.

Neither snow nor rain nor hear nor gloom of night stays these photographers from the swift completion of their appointed photo shoots. While that might be a take on the USPS motto, its certainly something photographers who shoot on location or travel for shoots could recite on cue.

Travel Safety: making sure your gear arrives safely to your destination

Travel Hacks: A few tips and tricks from a well traveled road warrior be it by air or land.

LITE lighting: Using small source lighting for big results

Lighting: Mixing white balances and colors

Light FX and APP: Using Lighting FX and App control to your advantage.

10:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m.

10:00 a.m. – Intro to Jeremy Saffer

10:15 a.m. – Small lights / epic portraits presentation

11:00 a.m. – Gear rundown and demo/build from case to set

12:00 p.m. – Break / Lunch (Time may vary)

1:00 p.m. – Live Shoot: Jeremy photographs guests

2 p.m. – Live Shoot: Students photograph guests

5:00 p.m. – Wrap up/final QnA/feedback

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Anyone with an interest in portrait photography and lighting will gain much from this program. From music photographers looking to get into music portraiture, to cosplay photographers looking to enhance the character in front of their lens to model photographers looking to bring out the most epic of looks. Any photographers who want the chance to photograph incredible subjects using professional lighting in a studio setting, this is it! You will also have a chance to expand your portfolio.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Having a basic understanding of photography, camera settings, and being familiar with your camera is important but students do not need any prior lighting experience.

If you are sick or feeling unwell, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you FULL credit towards a future workshop. Also, please note: We are requiring that ANY ATTENDEE with a cough MUST wear a mask for the health and safety of the attendees, instructors, and models.
